My name is Yannis and I'm 18 years old. I'm very interested in climate issues, I'm looking to be part of the solution by taking concrete actions.
I am currently in my first year at the Toulouse School of Architecture. I also like to play sports, I played rugby, which gave me a sense of teamwork. I also did triathlon with Triathlon Toulouse Métropole. I now play union rugby.
Since the age of 15, I have been interested in ecological issues in several fields. Very quickly, I noticed that many people were proposing alternatives that deserved more attention.
I created a “green-high school” group that carries out ecological actions. We organised awareness-raising workshops, bike days and vegetarian meals.
We put a vegetable garden, beehives and a poll-ashtray.
After being contacted by many high schools, we created the movement of Lycées En Transition (high schools in transition). The aim of the movement is to connect green high schools and allow them to inspire other high schools by publishing their best actions. This ambitious project is collaborative.

We won the Éducation climat 2020 prize!
I have also participated and organised many associative projects in Toulouse: the alternatives trail game with We Are Ready Now, the alternatives village with Alternatiba, the elaboration of a proposal for a bicycle network with 2 pieds 2 roues and the follow-up of the climate plan with Toulouse en Transition (Toulouse in transition). These projects only strengthen my motivation to raise awareness and make a difference.
I have been trained in the animation of the Fresque du climat (the Climate Fresk), which allows me to raise awareness about climate change. We understand that the priority should be to decarbonise our economy to limit climate change and to adapt to the decreasing supply of fossil fuels. However, we live in a world of machines that make us superhuman, and fossil fuels are their kibble. The ecological and energy transition requires a profound change, it is a real challenge for our generation!
