Hello, my name is Kiara, I'm 13 years old and I 'm in Year 10.
I live in Papeete, a town on the island of Tahiti, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. We are lucky to be surrounded by turquoise water but unfortunately we have to face the pollution caused by our overconsumption.
I am concerned about our environment and so in 2017 I decided to sign my family up for the zero waste family challenge. With a few simple tricks, we won 1st prize by reducing our waste by almost 80% in 6 months.
After this adventure, Ethan and I created the Eco Kids du Fenua. We participate in different eco-citizen actions such as ploggings, walks etc, and we shoot small information videos that we publish on our Facebook page
I am also very involved in the actions carried out within my school and particularly in the field of the environment.
On 15th March 2019 together with more than 150 other young people from the island, we responded to Greta Thunberg's call and demonstrated so that the authorities would hear what we had to say. The next day, a march was organised and this first demonstration comfort me because many of us wanted to change things.
In October 2019, we met with our environment minister. We discussed many different topics, it was a great experience
In November 2019, we met the Miss France 2020 candidates and plogged with them on a beach. They were very nice and got very much involved in this project
During the lockdown period, I filmed some awareness videos for Eco Kids
My goal is to raise awareness so that everyone at their own level can do a little something to protect our environment
MA FAMILLE ZERO DECHET.
